Tooth Extractions
Tooth Extractions
Peak Family Dental, PC
Overview
Our goal is always to help you keep your natural teeth, but sometimes a tooth is too damaged or diseased to save. When an extraction is the right call, Peak Family Dental focuses on keeping the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

Gentle Care When a Tooth Can't Be Saved
When Is an Extraction Necessary?
- Severe decay or infection that has damaged the tooth beyond repair
- A fractured tooth that can't support a filling or crown
- Advanced gum disease that has loosened the tooth
- A wisdom tooth that's impacted, painful, or difficult to clean
- A baby tooth that hasn't come out on its own and is affecting the adult tooth underneath
What to Expect
Before removing a tooth, we make sure the area is fully numb so you feel pressure, not pain. If there's an active infection, we'll often treat that first. After the tooth is removed, we'll walk you through simple aftercare — what to eat, how to keep the area clean, and what to expect as it heals.
Protecting Your Jawbone Afterward
Once a tooth is gone, the surrounding bone naturally begins to shrink — a significant amount can be lost within the first couple of years. If you're not ready to replace the tooth right away, we may recommend a bone graft to preserve the space so that a dental implant remains an option down the road.
Planning Your Next Step
After healing, most patients choose to replace the tooth with an implant, a bridge, or a partial denture, depending on their needs and goals. We'll talk through the options with you before you ever sit in the chair.
